Atlanta Horrorfest celebrates excellence in independent horror filmmaking.
We honor outstanding work across features, shorts, directing, cinematography, and unforgettable moments in horror. Winners are selected by our programming team and guest judges each year.
Each winner receives a custom trophy designed exclusively for Atlanta Horrorfest. 

• Best Feature Film
  Presented to the top feature-length horror film of the festival. The winner brings strong storytelling, craft, and a powerful impact.
   
• Best Short Film
  Awarded to a short horror film that stands out for its originality, tension, and ability to scare, disturb, or surprise in a short amount of time.
   
• Best Director
  Recognizes outstanding direction in a horror film, with special attention to pacing, mood, and vision.
   
• Best Kill or Scare Sequence
  For the most intense or memorable moment in a film. Whether it’s terrifying, creative, or just plain shocking, this one sticks with the audience.
   
• Best Cinematography
  Celebrates exceptional visual work that enhances the horror experience through lighting, framing, and tone.
   
• Most Twisted Concept
  Awarded to the film with a dark, disturbing, or wildly original idea that pushes horror in a new direction.
   
• Nightmare Fuel Award
  For the film that gets under your skin and refuses to leave. This is the one that haunts your dreams long after the credits roll.
